1. Large-Span, Column-Free Spaces

  • Typical Uses: Factories, warehouses, sports halls, exhibition centers, aircraft hangars, etc.

  • Advantage: Portal frames can span 30–40 meters (or more), providing unobstructed interior space for equipment, storage, or large events.


2. Industrial & Storage Buildings

  • Factories: Light to medium industrial workshops (e.g., assembly plants, manufacturing facilities).

  • Warehouses: Logistics centers, cold storage, and distribution hubs requiring high clearance.

  • Why?: Portal frames are lightweight, cost-effective, and allow easy integration of cranes or mezzanines.


3. Fast Construction Needs

  • Prefabrication: Components are factory-made and assembled on-site, reducing construction time.

  • Temporary Structures: Emergency shelters, construction site facilities, or relocatable buildings.


4. Lightweight & Material Efficiency

  • Steel Savings: Uses less material than concrete or truss structures for medium spans.

For larger spans (>50m) or heavy-duty applications, other systems (e.g., trusses, arches, or space frames) may be more suitable. However, portal frames remain a top choice for cost-effective, functional, and quick-to-build structures.
